The Fridge
Can I be a little candid here?
Every time I hand over a project or portfolio to a client of mine, there's some small part of me that is still like a little kid, handing his parent a drawing in the hopes that it will make it on to the fridge. I think we all carry a bit of that kid around inside us, and I wanted to share mine with all of you.
I am a firm believer that the soul of creativity is found in the heart, and a creative heart is one that's always ready to play. “The Fridge” is a collection of photos that in some way or another caused that inner kid of mine to pump the fist with a resounding "yeah!" You know the feeling I'm talking about? It's a unique and simple sort of joy mixed with the best kind of pride, carrying with it a resilience against and an antidote to the heavier, harder things in life. It's also an infectious joy, one that quickly transitions into a desire to celebrate and share that joy with the people that matter most, and I can't think of any better place to celebrate and share the big white canvas of the family refrigerator.
Each of these photos struck a very gratifying chord in my soul for a variety of reasons: In some instances it was about perfect timing and flukes of circumstance coming together in just the right way. Just as often, it was smiles that glowed and laughter that boomed, or other real moments of presence and candor, and sometimes it wasn't even about the photo at all as much as it was everything behind it, and the image just anchors the experience in the heart like any good photo should.
Whatever the reason, because my photography is inextricably tied to who I am as a person these photos each in some way represent how my eyes see my world and how my heart responds creatively. I hope that’s what you see when you look through this gallery, and I hope you see a little of me along the way.
